A gift basket has its advantages: it can be given on any occasion or no occasion to show appreciation.

There is the temptation to be "practical" in our gift giving - whatever that means. We should be conscious however, that many practical gifts may be spurned by the recipient. This does make sense. In gift giving the recipient is always right.
